We’re hiring: Senior Editor – Secondary Educational Publishing

Are you passionate about creating high-quality resources that inspire secondary students and support teachers? Insight Publications is seeking an experienced Senior Editor to lead the development of engaging, curriculum-aligned print and digital learning materials for Years 7–12 Australian students.

About the Role

As Senior Editor, you’ll oversee the editorial development of secondary educational resources from concept through to publication. You’ll work closely with authors, educators, curriculum authorities, editors and designers to ensure our publications are audience-appropriate, engaging, pedagogically sound and aligned with relevant curricula.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, edit and proofread content to ensure audience suitability, pedagogical quality, structural soundness, clarity, accuracy and curriculum alignment.
  • Manage scheduling, budget tracking and service provider liaison for assigned titles.
  • Brief, manage and cultivate strong working relationships with authors, reviewers, editors, designers and other external contributors.
  • Train and develop in-house Editors, Project Editors and Junior Project Editors in editorial craft and Insight standards.
  • Manage permissions on assigned titles.


About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in educational publishing
  • Degree in English, Literature, Writing & Editing or Publishing
  • Outstanding editing, proofreading and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience working collaboratively with educators, authors and subject matter experts
  • Demonstrated experience training or mentoring junior editorial staff
