Junior Project Editor – Insight Publications

  • Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hrs/week
  • Location: Office located in Cheltenham (hybrid working arrangements negotiable)

 

Insight Publications is an independent Australian-owned company with over 50 years of experience publishing educational resources for secondary teachers and students. We develop innovative, engaging and evolving resources to challenge, to inspire and to enrich learning.

We are currently seeking Junior Project Editors with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to join our dynamic team in Cheltenham, Victoria.

Junior Project Editors will provide integral support to the Publishers by fully coordinating and managing all responsibilities for titles right through to printing stage, and providing a high standard of copyediting, proofreading and writing services whenever necessary.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Manage projects and carry out project-management tasks. This includes scheduling, budgeting, liaising with service providers and demonstrating excellent office organisation skills.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders and contributors, including writers, reviewers, editors, proofreaders and other consultants, along with Insight’s publishers and other staff.
  • Communicate to the publishers in a timely manner any delays or concerns; provide a weekly progress report at publishing meetings.
  • Manage permissions. This includes identifying, contacting and negotiating with copyright holders for text and/or images.
  • Adapt and refine briefs for writers, reviewers, editors, proofreaders and designers.
  • Write, edit and proofread marketing collateral.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Two or more years working in an editorial capacity for an educational publisher
  • Experience managing multiple projects and liaising with stakeholders
  • Master’s Degree in Publishing or a related field preferred.


You will have

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • High-level editing and proofreading skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding command of the English language and conventions of writing and editing
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to style manuscripts in Microsoft Word in preparation for design/layout
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Willingness to take on any task to complete a project.
